About the Role

Present product designs at Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) forums, including customer reviews, while managing customer requirements and coordinating design and qualification tasks across peers, Centers of Excellence, and test labs. Conduct technical reviews with senior leadership and collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain teams, and suppliers to create designs that align with manufacturing capabilities and cost targets. Ensure compliance with design and analytical standards as directed by the Chief Engineering Staff and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Document design processes, checklists, lessons learned, and experience data. Lead improvement teams using data‑driven problem‑solving tools, develop and evaluate process capability, control plans, and audit out‑of‑control conditions, and support reviews of customer‑returned units to identify problems and implement corrective actions. Innovate product solutions that satisfy customer requirements, cost goals, and schedule commitments, and prepare technical proposals and non‑recurring engineering (NRE) cost estimates for new business opportunities. Foster constructive relationships with current and prospective customers, suppliers, peers, and team members. • Present designs at PDR and CDR reviews with customer participation. • Manage and translate customer requirements into actionable design tasks. • Coordinate design and qualification activities across teams, COEs, and test labs. • Conduct technical reviews with senior leadership. • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers to meet capability and cost targets. • Ensure compliance with design and analytical standards set by Chief Engineering Staff. • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. • Document design processes, checklists, lessons learned, and experience data. • Lead data‑driven improvement teams and implement corrective actions. • Develop product solutions that meet customer, cost, and schedule goals. • Prepare technical proposals and NRE cost estimates for new opportunities. • Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal peers. • Apply GD&T, dimensional stack‑ups, and understand manufacturing processes. • Utilize DFSS, Six Sigma, FMEA, tolerance allocation, and lean methods. • Use Product Data Management systems and adhere to ISO 9001/AS9100 quality standards. • Perform rigorous problem‑solving using 8D, root‑cause analysis, and control charts. • Work safely with required protective equipment in lab and production settings.

What You Bring

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of seven years of progressive engineering, product development, and qualification experience. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, meet export‑control eligibility, and reside within 50 miles of Rumford, RI (active‑duty military are exempt). No relocation assistance is provided. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, aerospace design experience, and proven ability to lead aerospace development projects and international design teams. The candidate should be proficient in GD&T per ANSI Y 14.5, understand manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, grinding, and lapping, and apply DFSS, Six Sigma, FMEA, tolerance allocation, and lean manufacturing methods. Familiarity with product data management systems, ISO 9001/AS9100 quality processes, and rigorous problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, root‑cause analysis) is also required. Ability to work safely in lab and production environments using appropriate protective equipment is essential. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred). • Possess 7+ years of engineering, product development, and qualification experience. • Be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and qualified for export‑controlled information. • Reside within 50 mi of Rumford, RI (exempt for active‑duty military). • Demonstrate aerospace design experience and ability to lead international projects.
