About the Role

The Piping Estimator prepares accurate cost estimates for piping and mechanical construction projects, evaluating drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop competitive bids while identifying scope, risks, and cost drivers. This role collaborates closely with senior estimators, project management, vendors, and subcontractors to support successful project award and execution. • Prepare detailed piping cost estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects. • Perform material, labor, and equipment takeoffs from piping drawings, isometrics, and specifications. • Assist with development of conceptual budgets and ROM estimates. • Solicit, review, and tabulate vendor and subcontractor quotations. • Analyze scope, specifications, and constructability to identify gaps and clarifications. • Prepare bid proposals, qualifications, and pricing summaries. • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and internal estimate reviews. • Support project handoff meetings and assist with budget validation. • Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data. • Follow company estimating standards and procedures.

What You Bring

The position requires 80‑100% travel, with most work performed in an office setting complemented by site visits and pre‑bid meetings. The environment is fast‑paced and deadline‑driven, focusing on preconstruction activities. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). • 3–7 years of piping or mechanical estimating experience in the construction industry. • Working knowledge of piping systems, materials, and installation methods. • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, HDPE, and related piping systems. • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical and plumbing drawings, riser diagrams, and specifications. • Proficiency with estimating software (AccuBid, Bluebeam). • Familiarity with ASME B31 series piping codes. • Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills. • Travel 80–100% of the time, primarily office‑based with occasional site visits. • Work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven preconstruction environment.
