About the Role
The Civil Engineer Project Leader role merges traditional project management with design engineering, leading water and wastewater projects through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover, while working within multidisciplinary teams and offering a clear pathway to chartership and cross‑discipline expertise. • Work as part of a project triangle with Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure technical, constructability and commercial aspects are considered. • Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from outline through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover. • Coordinate multidisciplinary project team (civil, electrical, mechanical, process designers, BIM modelers, technical specialists) to deliver designs on schedule, within budget and to quality standards. • Undertake design in own discipline and mentor less‑experienced colleagues. • Build positive relationships with client project, operational and technical assurance teams and promote a “one‑team” approach. • Join employee networks supporting LGBTQ+, gender, race, disability and parents/carers communities.

What You Bring
The position is employed by Mott MacDonald but works across the joint‑venture with JN Bentley colleagues; note that the company does not currently offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship due to recent UK immigration changes. • Hold an accredited Civil Engineering degree. • Be an incorporated member of an engineering institution. • Have outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects. • Know Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
