Market Analyst

About the Role

Basic Job Functions: The analyst will use external market and macro data together with internal transaction data to build models and forecasts that support commercial decision‑making for the Commodity Market team. • Compile and maintain financial, economic, steel, scrap industry and competitor data through various interactions • Analyze data using Excel, Project R, and Power BI • Provide scrap and steel industry financial and economic analysis from internal and external sources • Produce recurring and ad‑hoc analyses, presentations, and business analyses for internal and external customers, M&A, and strategic projects • Forecast scrap prices, steel production, shipments, and market volatility • Prepare professional presentations that distill industry and macro‑economic data into actionable insights • Collaborate with IT to develop and enhance reporting services for quality data analysis • Build and maintain internal and external industry contacts to support steel, scrap, and competitor databases

What You Bring

Safety is paramount at Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering or related field • 4–6 years of relevant business experience in a professional environment • Prior experience as a Financial Analyst or Data Analyst • Minimum 2 years of experience in data/financial analysis, data management, and reporting • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, macros, and pivot tables • Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities linking business needs to technical solutions • Beginner to intermediate proficiency in Project R and Python • Intermediate proficiency in Power BI and DAX • Working knowledge of statistical analysis • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset • Preferred: MBA degree • Preferred: Experience in financial, steel, or scrap metal industry • Preferred: Strong oral and written communication across all enterprise levels • Preferred: Minor in economics, statistics, or mathematics is a plus
