About the Role
The Multi‑Skilled Operative will support a busy repairs contract, delivering high‑quality maintenance and repairs across a range of trades to keep resident homes safe, functional and well cared for, as well as preparing void properties for new move‑ins. The role requires reliability, versatility across multiple trades and a commitment to getting the job done right the first time. • Perform responsive repairs in occupied properties • Complete refurbishments of void properties for turnover • Carry out plumbing tasks such as removing old shower trays and fitting baths and taps • Execute joinery duties including fitting doors, worktops and kitchen cupboards • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks and hinges • Patch plaster and make good damaged walls or ceilings • Conduct wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing • Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repairs • Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota (1 in 6 weeks) • Report additional works, safeguarding concerns or issues beyond scope • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes via handheld devices • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order • Manage daily workload to meet service level targets

What You Bring
Candidates must have experience in a core trade such as plumbing, joinery, plastering or tiling, possess excellent customer service skills, be personable, work well under pressure and demonstrate good time‑keeping. A full UK driving licence, personal hand tools and willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland are also required. Applicants must be entitled to work in the UK and meet vehicle driver requirements (over 21, licence held for 3 months, fewer than 9 points). The recruitment process includes background, identity, security clearance and BPSS checks, requiring proof of address, references, a valid passport and UK residency history. Mears Group offers a full‑time permanent role in Belfast with a salary up to £43,336.03 per annum, including a company van and fuel card for a 42.5‑hour week (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
