Laborer/Groundman

About the Role

In this role you provide general labor for both aerial and underground construction projects, ensuring work is completed correctly and safely under the direction of foremen and supervisors. • Dig trenches, unload materials, and prepare job sites using hand tools. • Perform fiber blowing operations to install fiber optic cable in conduits. • Conduct general construction labor and conduit placement as directed. • Read maps and follow directions for site work. • Assist with trench digging and backfilling. • Move materials and vehicles under foreman supervision. • Perform maintenance services such as cleanup, vehicle washing, and landscaping. • Follow prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment. • Operate vehicles and equipment (trucks, line trucks, bucket trucks, cable reels, saws, drills) when certified. • Tow trailers with flatbed trucks. • Perform aerial and underground work as needed and trained. • Troubleshoot RF and fiber line or equipment issues. • Construct and repair underground RF and fiber services. • Read and interpret design schematics and maps. • Learn inventory and equipment requirements for projects. • Safely climb poles with climbing equipment. • Relocate RF and fiber services. • Follow NESC safety guidelines.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate consistently prioritizes safety, delivers high‑quality work, enjoys hands‑on problem solving, holds a valid driver’s license with a clean record, can lift up to 70 lb, and possesses the ability to read maps, schematics, and diagrams. Additional qualifications include climbing certification, experience with RF and fiber overhead construction, knowledge of network architecture, and strong communication skills. • Obtain certification on equipment use (line truck, bucket truck, cable reel, etc.). • Demonstrated commitment to safety daily. • Consistently deliver high‑quality work. • Strong problem‑solving skills and hands‑on approach. • Willingness to work long‑term projects and get hands dirty with the team. • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lb. • Ability to read maps, drawings, design schematics, and diagrams. • Climbing certification or related experience. • Practical experience in overhead RF and fiber construction. • Knowledge of overhead bill of materials and network architecture for RF and fiber. • Familiarity with city, county, and state clearance codes. • Flagger certification for field work as needed. • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal communication skills. • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
