About the Role
The Operator works with various power-driven machinery to move dirt and other materials, and may operate equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, cranes, draglines, front‑end loaders, motor graders, cherry pickers, and dump trucks. The role includes setting up and operating production equipment according to established guidelines, adjusting machine settings to meet specifications, controlling diesel, electric, gasoline, or steam‑powered equipment with hand and foot levers, and interpreting hand signals to determine material placement. The Operator may work on unlevel surfaces, assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation, perform routine maintenance or repairs, and must observe all safety and project rules while performing other duties as required. • Set up and operate production equipment per guidelines. • Adjust machine settings to meet specifications accurately and timely. • Control diesel, electric, gasoline, or steam‑powered equipment using hand and foot levers. • Interpret hand signals to determine material placement. • Operate equipment on unlevel working surfaces. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation. • Perform routine maintenance or repairs on machinery. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Observe load hookup and assess load safety. • Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed and direction according to instructions. • Clean and maintain crane and hoisting mechanisms. • Inspect crane for defects, document findings, and notify supervisor. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning on tools and equipment. • Interpret load charts when necessary.
