About the Role
The role involves regular interaction with senior management, regulators, and community stakeholders, ensuring compliance and effective communication on permitting and technical matters. • Direct and manage consulting firms on permit applications, construction plans, site monitoring, and regulatory submittals. • Maintain relationships with regulators, represent WM in permit meetings, hearings, inspections, and serve as community liaison. • Oversee landfill construction projects, including consulting, contracting, budgeting, bid preparation, contract administration, and quality assurance. • Track and report capital budgets for engineering and construction projects per company procedures. • Conduct landfill capacity tracking, develop airspace calculations, and create fill sequencing and closure schedules. • Evaluate sites for compliance with construction and permit documents, pursue required permits and modifications. • Collaborate with internal experts to develop cost‑effective engineering solutions for landfills, transfer stations, and hauling operations. • Participate in acquisition reviews, divestiture evaluations, and provide pro‑forma modeling support during due diligence. • Mentor and supervise WM technical staff, providing training and guidance.

The position includes a base salary range of $101,535–$155,000, subject to experience, education, and location.
