About the Role

The primary duties include preparing engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for high‑voltage transmission lines under the supervision of senior engineers. The position also supports project management activities such as scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication. • Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures, foundations, and support systems per applicable codes (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE, NESC). • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. • Review vendor shop drawings for conformance to construction documents. • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and protection & control engineers to ensure integrated design solutions. • Conduct site visits for data collection, constructability reviews, and field engineering support. • Support project management activities including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication. • Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling/calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings. • Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications. • Assist in preparing cost estimates or specifications. • Participate in field reviews or construction observation. • Design tasks include structure design, spotting, conductor sag and blowout calculations, foundation design, hardware selection, fit‑up, and bill of materials preparation, considering environmental permitting, right‑of‑way, public involvement, access roads, and construction requirements.

What You Bring

Occasional short‑term travel of 1‑5 days may be required, with longer assignments of several weeks occurring infrequently on project work. • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (or commitment to obtain it). • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. • Demonstrated attitude and commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
