About the Role
The team helps clients navigate complex environmental regulations while driving progress in sustainability and emissions reduction. As a Consulting Associate you will contribute high‑quality technical work that supports cleaner operations, compliance excellence, and climate‑forward solutions across the Midwest. In this position you will support a variety of air‑quality and climate projects—from emissions analysis and permitting to climate reporting and compliance programs—working closely with experienced ERM practitioners and industry experts. The role provides hands‑on experience, expands your technical skillset, and allows you to make tangible environmental impacts for clients in technology, energy, and manufacturing. • Conduct air quality analyses and assess compliance with federal and state regulations. • Prepare and submit air permit applications (Title V, PSD, NSR) and liaise with regulators. • Develop emissions inventory reports for criteria pollutants and greenhouse gases; support TRI reporting. • Evaluate air pollution control technologies and assess technical and economic feasibility. • Contribute to climate initiatives such as GHG inventories, emissions reduction strategies, and energy efficiency evaluations. • Assist clients with MACT compliance programs and related documentation. • Produce clear technical reports, recommendations, and deliverables. • Support environmental compliance audits and corrective actions. • Manage multiple tasks within scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining high-quality standards. • Build strong relationships with clients, ERM colleagues, and subcontractors across the global network.

What You Bring

You'll join a collaborative group that works on air quality and climate projects for major industrial and global clients, shaping a more sustainable future. Candidates should hold a BS or MS in meteorology, engineering, environmental science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) and have at least one year of experience in air quality or environmental compliance. Strong data‑analysis skills, proficiency with spreadsheets and databases, and excellent written and verbal communication are essential, as is the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced consulting environment with multiple projects and client travel.
