About the Role

The Manager, Payroll oversees and executes accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a multi‑state, mid‑size organization. The role manages day‑to‑day payroll operations, ensures adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, and serves as a subject matter expert for payroll systems, audits, and reporting. The manager partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to maintain payroll integrity and regulatory compliance. • Oversee and process bi‑weekly full‑cycle payroll, including reviewing, auditing, approving, and submitting timecards, pay adjustments, deductions, and earnings codes. • Ensure payroll accuracy and timeliness while complying with federal, state, and local wage‑and‑hour laws and company policies. • Reconcile payroll control totals, gross wages, withholdings, and employer taxes for each payroll cycle and for weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting. • Issue and reconcile manual off‑cycle checks as needed. • Coordinate quarterly and annual tax filings, including W‑2 preparation and distribution, and partner with Finance and third‑party vendors on tax filings and audit requests. • Maintain payroll records, documentation of timekeeping, pay eligibility, and leaves, and investigate and resolve payroll variances and employee inquiries. • Serve as primary payroll administrator for the HRIS, support system upgrades, configure new earnings/deductions, and drive process improvements. • Supervise, train, and cross‑train payroll staff, develop and maintain SOPs, and collaborate with HR, Benefits, Accounting, and Operations on employee lifecycle events. • Escalate complex payroll issues to senior leadership or system partners when necessary.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (a bachelor's degree is a plus) and brings 3–5 years of hands‑on full‑cycle payroll experience in a mid‑size, multi‑state environment, including tax compliance. Experience with ADP Workforce Now for 2–3 years is strongly desired.
