About the Role

• Establish and maintain customer and community relationships. • Conduct key customer service visits from pre‑construction through close‑out. • Review proposals and participate in the RFP process. • Serve as primary customer contact for assigned projects. • Support business development initiatives and maintain customer relationships. • Provide oversight and accountability for large projects. • Manage contract administration, including terms, change requests, and invoices. • Maintain project budgets, costs, and pricing for profitable delivery. • Lead, mentor, and manage performance of the project team. • Coordinate utility installations (water, sewer, electric, gas, telecom) to align with schedules. • Collaborate with municipalities, utility providers, and internal teams to secure permits, easements, and approvals. • Develop and manage utility risk assessments and contingency plans.

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Executive I specializing in utility work. The role provides overall management for large projects, leads the project team, and ensures successful customer relations while assisting operating groups in winning work. The individual must interact with staff at all levels, remain flexible, resourceful, proactive, and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Recruitment agencies are not accepted without a valid agreement, and postings typically remain open for a minimum of five days, averaging 44 days. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or related field. • At least 10 years of construction management experience overseeing large projects. • Proven ability to manage projects from development through close‑out for multiple complex projects. • Strong detail orientation for organizing and managing multiple tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, project software, and web applications. • Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills. • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies. • Valid driver’s license. • Knowledge of EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans. • Willingness to travel up to 50‑75%.

Benefits

The base pay range for this position is $164,000 to $246,000, with higher ranges for offices in Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Compensation is positioned within the range based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity considerations. Benefits for non‑craft, non‑union employees working 25+ hours per week include medical, prescription drug, vision, and dental plans at no additional cost, a 401(k) plan with a generous Mortenson match, paid time off, holidays and other paid leaves, and employer‑paid life, AD&D, and disability insurance.
