About the Role

Project Managers are responsible for the overall financial health of projects, including managing subcontracts, suppliers, and project financial projections. They oversee budgeting, cost coding, invoice approval, owner billing, and contract management, while ensuring schedule and budget adherence through project completion. Additionally, they lead assistant project managers and engineers, provide performance feedback, and serve as the primary contact with owners and on‑site representatives. • Manage overall project financial health, including subcontracts, suppliers, and financial projections. • Develop and allocate project estimates in the financial system, determine cost codes, and approve invoices. • Create monthly owner billings, handle contract buyouts, and manage contract administration. • Oversee budget selection of trade partners and suppliers. • Lead and mentor assistant project managers and project engineers, assigning jobs and supporting career development. • Approve on‑site team timecards and provide performance feedback. • Serve as primary contact with owners and on‑site representatives, reviewing agreements and resolving site issues. • Execute and manage change orders, securing approvals from owners or architects. • Maintain project schedule and budget, ensuring quality, risk, safety, and compliance through completion.

What You Bring

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management, or equivalent experience, along with a valid driver’s license. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage complex projects, attention to detail, basic knowledge of construction law, and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and related web applications. Strong communication, active listening, and an understanding of EEO and affirmative action policies are also essential. • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or construction management (or equivalent experience). • Valid driver’s license. • Proven ability to manage complex construction projects. • Strong detail orientation to handle multiple tasks concurrently. • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, project software, and relevant web applications. • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies. • Effective communication and active listening skills, embracing diverse input. • Knowledge of EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.

Two levels are available: Project Manager 1 (minimum six years of construction management experience) with a base pay range of $113,500‑$170,300, and Project Manager 2 (minimum seven years and large‑project experience of $20 M+) with a base pay range of $132,100‑$198,200, adjusted upward in certain locations.
