About the Role

The Electrician will oversee the daily operation of the campus electrical power and lighting systems. Under general supervision the role includes installing, operating, maintaining, altering, troubleshooting and repairing electrical power and lighting distribution systems as well as a wide variety of industrial electrical equipment. The position requires a high level of technical expertise with building infrastructure and the employee must be available for on‑call work, including off‑hours, evenings, nights and weekends. Day‑to‑day duties involve operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility electrical systems and equipment, and acting as the subject‑matter expert for electrical, life‑safety and fire‑alarm systems. The electrician installs, repairs and maintains electrical controls, switching and motor controls, performs preventive maintenance, analyzes system operations to determine corrective actions, and responds to operational and emergency situations while adhering to NFPA‑70E standards and Arc‑Flash PPE. Work orders are prioritized, inventory of tools and supplies is managed, safety policies are enforced and required JLL and client training programs are completed. • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair campus electrical power and lighting systems. • Serve as subject‑matter expert for electrical, life‑safety, and fire‑alarm systems. • Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching and motor controls. • Perform preventive maintenance on building electrical equipment. • Analyze system performance and implement corrective actions. • Respond to operational emergencies and follow NFPA‑70E and Arc‑Flash PPE requirements. • Prioritize and complete preventive, corrective, and emergent work orders. • Manage inventory of tools and supplies and process purchase orders. • Ensure compliance with safety policies and hazardous‑material handling.

What You Bring

Candidates must possess a high‑school diploma and be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with building‑management (BMS) and computerized maintenance‑management (CMMS) systems, proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Office and Outlook, and the ability to operate electric hand tools are required. Physical ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, roofs and to lift heavy loads is essential; an electrical license or other relevant trade licenses are preferred. The position is on‑site at a GM facility in Kansas City and follows a Tuesday‑through‑Saturday (2nd shift) schedule. Compensation is $39.92 per hour and the role does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Locations include Independence, MO; Kansas City, KS; Lenexa, KS; North Kansas City, MO; Olathe, KS; Overland Park, KS; Shawnee, KS; and Topeka, KS. • Complete required JLL and client training programs. • Hold a high‑school diploma; strong teamwork and communication skills. • Experience with BMS/CMMS and basic computer applications (MS Office, Outlook). • Ability to use electric hand tools and work in confined spaces, ladders, roofs. • Physical ability to lift heavy loads; electrical license preferred.
