Job Highlights
About the Role
The Legal Counsel will provide full‑spectrum legal support across corporate functions and business units, including Grid Integration, Grid Automation, High Voltage, Transformers and Services. You will draft, review, negotiate and interpret contracts to achieve optimal commercial outcomes while mitigating risk. The role also involves delivering strategic legal advice on a broad range of matters. Key duties include advising on contract law, litigation, anti‑trust, compliance, intellectual property, employment, corporate governance and ethics, and developing close working relationships with internal commercial and supply‑chain teams. You will review vendor and third‑party policies, research applicable laws, monitor litigation, and support legal training and integrity initiatives across the organization. The Counsel will also coordinate tender preparation, RFQs and framework agreement negotiations. • Draft, review, negotiate and interpret contracts and legal documents. • Provide strategic advice on contract law, litigation, anti‑trust, compliance, intellectual property, employment, corporate governance and ethics. • Build and maintain relationships with commercial teams and supply‑chain functions. • Review vendor, customer and third‑party policies for compliance with internal standards. • Research and interpret applicable laws, statutes and regulations. • Advise on claims, liability and oversee disputes and litigation matters. • Support business units in managing contractual claims and coordinate external counsel when needed. • Promote compliance with Hitachi Energy directives and local laws through training and best‑practice sharing. • Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate risk and monitor litigation activity. • Prepare RFQs, pre‑qualification questionnaires, tender documents and negotiate framework agreements. • Coordinate legal training and facilitate harmonised processes across the organization. • Assist with integrity monitoring, Code of Ethics implementation and resolution of integrity‑related issues. • Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in law and be a qualified lawyer with at least ten years of post‑qualification experience, including five years as an in‑house counsel or legal practitioner on major utility or engineering projects. Strong experience in contract law, commercial negotiations, analytical problem‑solving and high ethical standards are essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills are required, as well as proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is a plus and bar admission is preferred. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in law with a minimum of 10 years post‑qualification experience, including 5+ years in‑house or utility/engineering legal practice. • Demonstrate strong contract law and commercial negotiation skills, analytical problem‑solving ability and high integrity. • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills; proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic proficiency is a plus; bar admission preferred.
