Operate CDL trucks to collect and transport waste/recyclables to disposal sites.
Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle containers that can exceed 1,000 lb, navigate high‑traffic streets, alleys and lots, and perform skilled backing maneuvers. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top containers, often in tight industrial environments. • Operate vehicle in compliance with WM Safety, OSHA, DOT and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. • Report unsafe situations or service issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Attend required trainings, briefings and meetings. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify management of any incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage. • Alert management or Dispatch to service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump receptacles and leave the customer site clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out procedures. • Perform scheduled duties and assist other drivers as needed to meet customer needs. • Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling and operating equipment.
