Assist in designing building automation control systems and documentation as an engineering intern.

About the Role
• Assist in designing BAS control system drawings, including control diagrams, network architecture, and wiring diagrams. • Support creation of sequences of operation, control schematics, and project documentation under supervision. • Perform material take‑offs and help prepare equipment schedules and submittal packages. • Review mechanical plans and specifications to determine control system requirements. • Aid engineers with programming preparation tasks such as database entry, point lists, and device mapping. • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure design accuracy. • Conduct quality checks for compliance with Climatec standards and client specifications. • Participate in team meetings, jobsite visits, and coordination sessions as needed. • Learn and use common BAS tools and platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Alerton, Distech, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).

What You Bring
The BAS Engineering Intern role offers hands‑on experience in designing and developing building automation control systems, supporting drawing production, documentation, material take‑offs, and project coordination while working closely with engineers and project teams. • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Engineering, HVAC, Automation, or a related technical field. • General knowledge or interest in building automation, controls, or energy management systems. • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio). • Strong attention to detail and adherence to engineering standards. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Problem‑solving mindset with willingness to learn technical concepts. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Effective time‑management and multitasking abilities. • Valid driver’s license for occasional site visits. • Ability to lift or handle field equipment when required. • Junior, senior, or graduate‑level standing preferred. • Basic understanding of HVAC, mechanical equipment, and building systems. • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools. • Comfortable reading mechanical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams (training provided). • Must communicate clearly in English (see, hear, speak, write). • Manual dexterity for occasional reaching, lifting light objects, and operating office equipment. • Ability to sit, stand, and walk in office and construction sites. • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lb and work at heights over 1.8 m. • Required onsite presence with customers or contractors, ranging from office settings to new construction sites. • Driving to customer sites is required; limited overnight travel may occur.
