About the Role

• Maintain MIG welder and related equipment with routine checks • Perform welding repairs as needed • Position and secure parts using hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines • Detect faulty equipment operation or defective materials • Monitor welding process to prevent overheating, warping, distortion, pin holes or blow‑through • Inspect work pieces for defects and measure against straightedges or templates • Complete required paperwork at each station • Participate in cross‑training rotations to address ergonomics and skill development • Assist in relieving bottlenecks in manufacturing processes • Monitor quality output via inspection, scrap records, SPC and station control sheets • Perform 5S activities to maintain workplace organization • Comply with all safety rules, policies, procedures and best practices

What You Bring

Applicants must pass an internal welding test, be able to read blueprints and technical instructions, and possess basic math and written communication skills. Preferred candidates have 1‑2 years of welding experience and a high school diploma or GED. Nucor is an equal‑opportunity employer and maintains a drug‑free workplace. • Weld low carbon steel (16‑7 gauge, 0.125‑0.500” thickness) in flat, vertical and 360° positions • Clamp, tack‑weld, heat‑bend, grind or bolt components to achieve required configurations • Pass internal welding test • Read and comprehend blueprints, work instructions and safety rules • Write simple correspondence • Perform basic arithmetic operations • Read tape measures and understand calibrations • 1‑2 years of welding experience (preferred) • High School diploma, GED or equivalent (preferred) • Proficiency with hand tools (preferred)
