About the Role

The Lead Tractor‑Trailer Driver role requires safely operating a tractor‑trailer, straight truck, or pup‑trailer vehicle that necessitates a Class A CDL. Drivers substitute on open routes, support route completion, and provide operational assistance as directed by the manager, including training and mentoring new drivers. The position also involves participation in routing projects and developmental programs. Key duties include following assigned routes, completing end‑of‑day paperwork, and performing pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections documented on a DVIR. Drivers must adhere to WM Safety and Life‑Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws, while communicating customer requests to dispatch or management. They are expected to coach new drivers, report safety incidents, and work with managers to identify best practices and improve route efficiency. • Operate tractor‑trailer or straight truck safely while complying with WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Complete assigned routes, end‑of‑day documentation, and pre/post‑trip vehicle inspections using the DVIR. • Mentor and coach new drivers, providing training and performance feedback. • Collaborate with managers to improve route efficiency and identify best practices. • Report incidents, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly to management. • Maintain training records and driver documentation.

What You Bring

Candidates must possess a valid Class A CDL, at least five years of commercial driving experience (or equivalent military driving within the past seven years), be at least 18 years old, and be legally eligible to work in the United States. A high‑school diploma or GED is preferred. The role requires physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, and communicating verbally and auditorily.
