About the Role

Key responsibilities include thorough planning and scheduling of personnel, equipment, and materials, as well as managing site logistics such as field office setup, permits, utilities, and safety resources. The Project Manager serves as the company’s primary representative on‑site, conducting progress meetings with owners and engineers, internal coordination meetings, and pre‑activity briefings for major work items. Additional duties involve staffing the project, supervising engineers, reviewing contracts and specifications, controlling the project budget, approving invoices, and processing change orders and claims. The role also requires managing subcontractors and vendors, ensuring accurate documentation and daily reporting, and maintaining compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations. • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and site logistics (field office, permits, utilities, parking, roads, lay‑down areas). • Conduct progress meetings with owners/engineers and ensure timely submission of required documents. • Lead internal scheduling meetings and pre‑activity briefings to coordinate work, labor, equipment, and safety requirements. • Select, supervise, and mentor project staff, including engineers, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors. • Review contract documents, specifications, permits, and identify opportunities for extra pay or claims. • Approve all invoices, subcontractor payments, and timesheets, monitoring cost variances against estimates. • Manage the project budget, evaluate cost‑effectiveness, and implement measures to prevent cost overruns. • Prepare and submit change orders and claims to the owner in a timely manner. • Negotiate and oversee subcontractor and vendor agreements, payments, and dispute resolution. • Ensure accurate daily documentation, including diaries, reports, photos, and meeting minutes. • Represent MasTec publicly, maintaining professional conduct and fostering positive stakeholder relationships. • Enforce OSHA and company safety regulations, coordinating with the Safety Manager as needed.

What You Bring

MasTec Civil is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a heavy civil/highway project in Tampa, Florida. The Project Manager will have full responsibility for ensuring construction is performed according to specifications, on schedule, and within budget, while adhering to all company policies and procedures. The position demands strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, as well as the ability to mentor junior engineers and represent the company professionally in public relations matters. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. • Possess at least five years of heavy construction experience with bridge, roadwork, and DOT projects. • PMP certification is preferred. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of construction means and methods in heavy civil projects. • Exhibit effective team leadership and the ability to manage multi‑disciplinary crews. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and project scheduling software (minimum P‑3). • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of multitasking across multiple sites. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction at all organizational levels.
