About the Role

As an Electrician at Zekelman Industries – Atlas Tube in Chicago, you will maintain and repair tube‑mill production equipment to maximize uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency. The position reports to the Shift Manager and offers two shift options (11 p‑7 a or 3 p‑11 p) with pay ranging from $29.33 to $32.97 per hour plus a production incentive. The role suits individuals with strong electrical aptitude, troubleshooting expertise, and a proactive, safety‑first mindset. You will maintain electrical systems on production equipment, following all safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out compliance, and ensure guards and safety devices are functional before equipment is released to operations. Responsibilities include monitoring and inspecting equipment with manual and computerized systems, reading blueprints and schematics for troubleshooting, and using hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and testing equipment to perform repairs. You will execute breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, and electrical changeovers, keep work areas clean and audit‑ready, guide co‑workers, and report unresolved safety, quality, or production issues to the supervisor. • Maintain production equipment electrical systems, adhering to safety procedures and LOTO compliance. • Verify installation and functionality of guards and safety devices before equipment operation. • Monitor and inspect equipment using manual and computerized maintenance systems. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals to diagnose and repair faults. • Perform electrical tasks with hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, measuring and testing devices. • Execute breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, and electrical changeovers on production lines. • Keep work areas clean and audit‑ready after completing electrical tasks. • Provide guidance to co‑workers and communicate effectively with team members. • Report unresolved safety, quality, or production issues promptly to the supervisor. • Participate in a 401(k) plan with company match and immediate vesting, as well as tuition assistance and paid training.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Journeyman card, an Associate’s degree, or an equivalent qualification (military service counts). At least two years of electrical maintenance experience in a heavy‑industrial or manufacturing environment is required, with tube‑mill or steel manufacturing experience preferred. Additional expectations include the ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, perform basic math, lift up to 50 lb, work physically demanding tasks, communicate effectively, and maintain regular full‑time onsite attendance while promoting safe work practices in line with OSHA and company policy. • Hold a Journeyman card, Associate’s degree, or equivalent (including military service). • Possess at least 2 years of electrical maintenance experience in heavy‑industrial or manufacturing settings; tube‑mill experience preferred. • Meet physical requirements such as lifting up to 50 lb and performing standing, bending, climbing, and stooping tasks.
