About the Role
• Perform clearance actions, act as contractor liaison, and review, prepare, and coordinate classified contracts. • Verify security clearances for contractor personnel and certify need‑to‑know access to classified information. • Assist with classification management and maintain records of classified material. • Enforce and monitor security procedures to ensure compliance with government policies on couriers, clearances, packages, documentation, and debriefings. • Develop and implement security procedures in coordination with management. • Review and catalog technology area protection plans (TAPPs) and S&T program protection plans (PPPs). • Support the NRL Technology Protection program, including construction and revision of Security Classification Guides (SCG). • Assist with disclosure policies and programs to guide decisions on releasing or restricting classified military information (CMI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI). • Conduct security briefings and maintain security education programs. • Investigate losses and security violations and recommend corrective actions. • Support NRL security training, including NATO, CNWDI, derivative classification, classified markings, and annual refresher training. • Liaise with external agencies and keep upper management informed of security activities. • Ensure proper destruction of classified PII and proprietary information per policy. • Assist in revising procedure manuals and stay current with DSS, NSA, and other agency security requirements through ongoing training.

What You Bring
The Associate Specialist, GS Security will support KBR’s security program by handling industrial, personnel, and information security tasks. The role requires strong written and verbal communication, public‑presentation skills, and the ability to interpret higher‑level policies, orders, and laws to satisfy Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) information‑security requirements. Candidates must hold a college degree, have 0–2 years of relevant experience, and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret clearance. The position is based in Washington, DC, is covered by the Service Contract Act, and offers an hourly rate of $31.68–$47.55.
