About the Role

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. This senior role will handle construction delivery for a major Hertfordshire residential scheme while serving as the business unit’s construction specialist, combining hands‑on site leadership with strategic guidance across the development portfolio. It ensures robust buildability, programme, quality, procurement and Building Safety Act compliance from early feasibility through to project handover. • Manage delivery of the Hertfordshire residential scheme, including programme, quality, safety and commissioning. • Drive a zero‑harm culture and ensure SHEQ compliance. • Oversee planning, utilities and statutory approvals. • Manage stakeholder, joint venture and local authority engagement. • Ensure ESG, social value and carbon commitments are met. • Manage handover, after‑care and defect resolution. • Support commercial control, change and reporting. • Provide construction expertise across the portfolio and conduct buildability reviews. • Manage assurance and uphold departmental standards. • Lead large‑scale residential construction with client‑side experience. • Safety first – champion a safe, diverse and inclusive working environment. • Create opportunity – foster continuous improvement and development for people.

What You Bring

• Demonstrate strong contract, programme, safety and regulatory knowledge (JCT/NEC, BSA). • Hold qualified construction professional status and relevant certifications (CSCS, SMSTS desirable). • Skilled in stakeholder management, digital tools and complex urban site coordination. • Client focus – own quality of deliverables and build long‑term client relationships.

Benefits

The full‑time role is split between on‑site work in the Stevenage area of Hertfordshire (approximately 2‑3 days per week) and regular attendance at the client’s head office in London (1‑2 days per week), with the possibility of flexible work‑from‑home arrangements agreed with the Business Unit Director or Development Director.
