About the Role
The Senior Safety Engineer will oversee the development and administration of site‑specific safety plans, lead safety orientations and training, and provide coaching and train‑the‑trainer sessions for engineers. Responsibilities also include loss‑control data collection, trend analysis, incident reporting and investigation, injury case management, and reviewing safety submittals and trade partner work plans. • Implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites • Develop and administer site‑specific safety plans • Lead safety orientation and training programs for project teams • Provide coaching and train‑the‑trainer sessions for engineers • Collect and analyze loss‑control data and trends • Record, monitor, and analyze leading and trailing safety metrics • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and root‑cause analysis • Lead injury and case management, including return‑to‑work and modified duty • Review safety submittals and attend pre‑construction meetings with subcontractors • Monitor trade partner work plans for safety concerns • Mentor and coach safety engineers on project assignments • Provide technical assistance and solutions for industrial hygiene issues • Maintain knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other construction safety standards • Attend and lead safety meetings and site tours with OSHA personnel • Build collaborative relationships with diverse team members and stakeholders • Coach and mentor project team members in safety management practices

The role focuses on implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites, ensuring a safe work environment for employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field, or possess a high‑school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500 certification and at least ten years of construction experience, including six years in a dedicated safety role. A minimum of five years of construction safety experience, strong attention to detail, proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety software, excellent communication, coaching abilities, and the willingness to travel up to 100 % are required, along with a valid driver’s license. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field, or high‑school diploma with CHST and OSHA 500 • Minimum five years of construction safety experience, with at least ten years overall construction experience • Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety‑related software programs • Demonstrate strong customer service, active listening, and communication skills • Travel up to 100 % and maintain a valid driver’s license • Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position
