About the Role

• Perform preventive maintenance on presses, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines using manuals and engineering specifications. • Diagnose equipment issues by observing operation, listening for abnormal sounds, and employing precision measuring instruments. • Disassemble devices with hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools to remove defective parts. • Estimate the time required to complete maintenance tasks. • Inspect parts and determine dimensional changes using the onsite machine shop. • Adjust components and control instruments with hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. • Reduce downtime by informing production staff of maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance. • Fabricate repair parts with machine‑shop assistance when needed. • Track equipment, parts, and supply inventories and notify the supervisor of removals. • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently. • Ensure machinery operation to maintain production output and quality standards.

What You Bring

Safety is the most important part of all jobs at Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • 2–3 years experience as an industrial mechanic in a manufacturing environment. • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance and repairs. • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams. • Preferred: 2+ years industrial plant experience and a 2‑year degree in mechanical/electrical or a related field. • Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFD) and programmable logic controllers (PLC). • Formal electrical safety training and experience. • Experience operating forklifts, mobile cranes, or other mobile equipment. • Experience scheduling preventive maintenance.
