About the Role

The position focuses on onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing the performance of all drivers and helpers. It requires building and maintaining positive relationships with front-line employees while spending the majority of the day working directly in the field alongside them. The role operates in a hybrid setting that blends office duties with plant and field activities, requiring regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. Physical demands may include moving between sites and occasional travel. • Ensure new frontline employees have the tools, instruction, and feedback needed for daily duties. • Meet daily with new frontline employees to provide consistent communication and onboarding support. • Provide timely, regular touchpoints with frontline staff. • Review best practices regularly to improve performance. • Support frontline employees in achieving their career goals. • Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with staff for continued success. • Practice and seek feedback on coaching conversations. • Lead by example to prioritize safety practices. • Teach and reinforce the WM Way. • Conduct root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, applying discipline and retraining as needed. • Document and maintain regulatory records required by the Department of Transportation. • Review and audit daily route operation documents (DVIRs, time‑attendance, tickets) and follow up appropriately. • Visit customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold an accredited associate’s degree or a high school diploma combined with at least two years of relevant work experience. They must be at least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the country, and possess a valid driver’s license. Completion of the WM Operations Manager Trainee program and two years of transportation management experience are considered strong assets.
