About the Role

The Resident Project Representative I will support construction projects by interpreting drawings, maintaining accurate daily records, reviewing materials for compliance, and tracking quantities for pay estimates. This role also involves attending progress meetings, observing equipment installations, developing punchlists, and assisting with project audit and closeout under the guidance of senior staff. • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies. • Maintain daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment, and materials. • Review construction materials for contract compliance. • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance. • Attend and chair construction progress meetings. • Observe installation and acceptance testing of equipment and systems. • Identify nonconforming work, develop punchlists, and ensure correction. • Develop documentation for engineer review and acceptance. • Assist with project audit and closeout. • Supervise junior Resident Project Representatives, construction inspectors, testing services, and subconsultants.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license, prior construction experience with a consulting firm, the ability to interpret construction schedules, and strong problem‑solving skills to propose viable solutions to engineers. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent experience, demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects, a solid understanding of contracts, codes, and construction law, and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Candidates must work well in a team, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be computer literate with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or similar packages, and share a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Hold Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred). • Possess previous construction experience with a consulting firm. • Ability to interpret construction schedules and propose solutions. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field. • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects. • Understanding of contracts, codes, and construction laws. • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or similar construction software.
