About the Role

The Marketing Services Manager for the Northern California Area Water Business Group will lead a team at the forefront of innovation, building strategic partnerships and unlocking new opportunities in drinking water, wastewater, and water‑resources planning and design. In this role the manager oversees proposal and marketing staff, drives go/no‑go decisions, creates win strategies and messaging, ensures high‑quality proposals and interview materials, and partners with leadership to achieve growth goals. • Retain, develop, and supervise proposal and marketing employees. • Apply the go/no‑go decision process according to HDR’s Matrix of Authority. • Lead pursuit teams to create win strategies, key messaging, and clear pursuit materials. • Facilitate development of persuasive proposal and interview content. • Manage proposal schedules and ensure compliance for all pursuits. • Engage appropriate marketing services resources within pursuit teams. • Develop scalable processes, workflows, and AI‑enabled tools for proposal development. • Conduct quality reviews of proposal and interview materials. • Coach interview teams to deliver key messages effectively. • Facilitate debriefs to identify improvement opportunities and measure competitiveness. • Recognize and celebrate pursuit successes and milestones. • Balance workload demands of proposal managers and marketing coordinators. • Identify and recruit candidates for open marketing positions. • Train, mentor, and onboard marketing staff on best practices. • Manage client relationship and financial systems to support reporting and dashboards. • Support creation of annual and long‑term strategic plans and growth initiatives. • Implement key growth initiatives and investments per strategic plans. • Develop client plans and long‑term strategies to capture market share. • Create marketing collateral to aid business development efforts. • Cultivate business relationships with teaming partners. • Direct content marketing campaigns to strengthen brand and visibility. • Publish engaging digital content that showcases HDR’s thought leadership. • Elevate HDR’s brand and technical talent through industry association strategies. • Assist with planning and execution of conference sponsorship benefits. • Develop internal communications content such as announcements, presentations, and webinars. • Arrange professional photography for projects. • Coordinate large internal meetings, both in‑person and virtual. • Maintain inventory of branded materials for client visits, conferences, and recruiting.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least eight years of relevant A/E/C experience, strong communication and leadership skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud; a bachelor’s degree and ten‑plus years of proposal leadership are preferred. • Articulate HDR’s capabilities and competitive advantages. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred). • Deep knowledge of A/E/C industry procurement practices (preferred). • 10+ years leading or managing proposal efforts in the A/E/C sector (preferred). • Ability to work effectively with diverse staff in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment (preferred). • Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience. • Self‑starter with a record of completing projects with limited oversight. • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others. • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign). • Willingness to travel and engage in‑person. • Proven success winning high‑value A/E/C contracts. • Skilled at writing compelling content from technical information.
