About the Role
The Project Engineer 1 supports construction and field execution using company best‑practice standards, processes, resources, and tools. The role involves general construction management, punch‑list execution, and self‑perform work to understand how JE Dunn delivers projects, all in alignment with the company’s strategy, vision, and values. • Participate in safety and quality plans, mentor others to maintain an injury‑free environment. • Contribute to project QA/QC planning to ensure task quality. • Assist with estimating and change management, including quantity take‑off and subcontractor proposal review. • Support on‑site tasks: monitor crew size, self‑perform hours, materials, quantities, and equipment. • Engage in punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews, and related documentation. • Post latest drawings and specifications. • Organize project meetings and prepare/distribute required documentation. • Prepare daily, weekly, and progress reports, including manpower, schedules, and equipment tracking. • Conduct periodic job‑site observations with project leadership. • Create procurement logs, track shop drawings, and follow up on deliveries per schedule. • Provide progress updates to support scheduling. • Assist project close‑out: punch list, O&M manuals, as‑built drawings, etc. • Apply company best‑practice standards for construction techniques. • Build relationships and communication with tradespeople, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors. • Incorporate Lean practices into daily activities. • Identify, develop, and integrate self‑perform opportunities into projects.

What You Bring
Successful candidates must perform work accurately, timely, and completely, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office, knowledge of Lean processes, construction technology, self‑perform labor productivity, and the fundamentals of construction management are essential. The ability to assess and optimize project productivity, understand specific trades, and build collaborative relationships is also required. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is required, though equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Entry‑level construction experience satisfies the experience requirement. The role may require lifting up to 50 lb, periods of travel or relocation, and non‑traditional hours to meet project needs, with exposure to extreme temperatures and frequent physical activity.
