About the Role

Under general supervision, you will conduct field surveys, collect and compile samples, maintain quality‑control standards, generate accurate documentation, and follow safety and site‑specific procedures while utilizing the latest technologies to assess habitats and potential environmental impacts. • Conduct natural resource field surveys using observational, spatial, and environmental data collection equipment. • Collect and compile air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrix samples for laboratory analysis. • Maintain quality control standards to ensure accurate measurement and documentation. • Produce complete, accurate, and concise documentation via electronic systems and field notebooks. • Follow safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures for sample handling, data recording, and logbooks. • Apply latest technologies and techniques to study habitats, sites, and potential environmental impacts. • Complete assigned training tasks and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

What You Bring

WSP is seeking an Early Career Environmental Scientist for our Morristown, NJ office. The role provides local technical assistance for collecting, identifying, and compiling observational and spatial data across biological, physical, and earth sciences, supporting processes related to water supply, air emissions, pollution control, cultural impact, and environmental quality. The successful candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field, possesses up to one year of post‑education experience, and demonstrates analytical, communication, and self‑leadership skills, along with familiarity with environmental regulations and safety practices. • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or related life‑science field. • 0–1 year of relevant post‑education experience. • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with research techniques, regional ecology, habitats, and species. • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements. • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities for scientific and non‑scientific audiences. • Proven self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. • Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively within a team. • Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation, and communication software. • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • Flexibility to work project‑specific schedules that may exceed a typical workweek and occasional travel as needed. • Authorization to work in the United States immediately. • Active membership or participation in local professional practice organizations (preferred).
