About the Role
The Orlando Traffic Management Center operates 24/7/365, providing incident management, dispatching, and traveler information services. Staff continuously monitor traffic conditions, communicate with motorists, first responders, FDOT personnel, and other mobility stakeholders to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. • Control and monitor ITS devices (cameras, dynamic message signs, ramp meters) via software • Detect and verify traffic events (crashes, debris, stalled vehicles, construction) using video and data feeds • Log events and road closures in traffic management applications • Dispatch Road Ranger Safety Service Patrol Operators to incident sites • Provide precise directions and descriptions of traffic events to responders • Execute and adjust software‑generated response plans to maintain traffic flow • Monitor weather impacts on traffic and issue notifications to motorists and agencies • Coordinate with FDOT signal personnel for traffic signal management • Update traveler information on fl511.com • Participate in technical and customer‑service training and certification • Follow standard operating procedures and maintain asset records • Communicate with road rangers via radio/phone according to protocols • Liaise with local agencies, authorities, and wrecker companies to clear incidents • Answer calls and assist motorists, FDOT staff, and agencies on road conditions • Dispatch FDOT statewide maintenance staff outside business hours • Provide clear information to law enforcement, emergency services, and towing personnel • Document all activity and communications clearly and concisely

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, the ability to remain stationary while monitoring ITS equipment, proficiency with software platforms, and successful completion of background and drug screenings. Preferred experience includes call‑center or dispatch work, strong customer‑service skills, calmness under pressure, extensive phone, radio, and computer usage, effective communication, map interpretation, knowledge of Florida highways, and accurate data‑entry abilities.
