About the Role

The Aptitude Superintendent 2 will manage and execute more complex intelligent‑integration projects, oversee low‑voltage trade partners, plan construction sequencing, and ensure timely, profitable completion while supporting JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. The role provides autonomy to make decisions within defined limits and follows a career path to Senior Aptitude Superintendent. It also requires the superintendent to lead safety culture, communicate with clients and teams, and coordinate design and construction efforts for low‑voltage systems. • Lead safety culture, mentor staff, investigate incidents, and ensure injury‑free environment. • Communicate with clients and project teams; escalate low‑voltage scope issues. • Coordinate design and construction to meet constructability, quality, financial, and technical standards. • Manage staff, low‑voltage subcontractors, suppliers, and program compliance for projects. • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed low‑voltage work. • Oversee care, custody, and control of assigned low‑voltage scope. • Create, adjust, and update project schedules with the Aptitude Project Manager. • Track and monitor project budget and costs using the management system. • Communicate key project information to owners, designers, authorities, subcontractors, and suppliers. • Update drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks. • Approve and record unit cost information; produce daily and weekly reports. • Evaluate progress on self‑performed work and make adjustments as needed. • Manage material and equipment requirements for the project. • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment for low‑voltage installations. • Approve timecards, ensuring accurate hours and proper cost codes. • Coordinate with trades to install conduit, pathways, and back‑boxes before cabling. • Ensure quality compliance via specifications, QA/QC standards, and external resources. • Support project close‑out by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and authorities. • Participate in new project pursuit processes and develop pre‑plans with field operations leadership. • Partner with leadership to establish local workforce and manage schedule and cost impacts of changes. • Prepare and present at project review meetings, including monthly reviews. • Apply contract terms and conditions for owners and subcontractors. • Promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policies are implemented. • Manage fairly complex projects from start to finish, overseeing scheduling, production, quality, and safety. • Identify, assess, and actively manage project risks for assigned scopes. • Diagnose problems and recommend solutions for team review and implementation. • Participate in project pursuits and negotiate changes with owners and architects. • Engage trade partners to execute assigned scopes of work. • Apply comprehensive knowledge of low‑voltage systems to daily deliverables. • Configure and program project‑to‑project software for testing and troubleshooting. • Perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. • Apply construction management fundamentals, Lean processes, and project processes to ensure successful project completion. • Manage budgets, maximize profitability, and generate future work through relationship building. • Interpret blueprint drawings, understand document changes, and assess schedule impacts. • Collaborate within internal and external teams to build strong relationships.

JE Dunn offers a professional non‑union benefits package and is an equal‑opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. • Demonstrate thorough understanding of low‑voltage systems including structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, fire alarm, AV, building automation, nurse call, infant security, RTLS, phone systems, and network electronics. • Work across multiple vertical markets and understand all low‑voltage system connections. • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; deliver effective presentations. • Proficient in MS Office and JE Dunn construction technology platforms. • Know specific trades, low‑voltage scopes, self‑perform work, and labor productivity. • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred. • 5+ years construction experience required; 5+ years in Division 8/23/25/27/28 low‑voltage systems required. • 3+ years field supervision experience required; 5+ years project management experience preferred. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; may involve travel, relocation, and exposure to extreme temperatures. • Work may require non‑traditional hours; frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling; occasional sitting and computer work.
