Sorter

About the Role

The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to brokers or mills. This role ensures that recoverable materials are properly sorted, handled, and prepared for downstream customers. • Sort and separate recyclable materials such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper from incoming waste. • Deposit sorted materials into the appropriate chute safely and efficiently. • Assist fellow sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed. • Follow all safety policies, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergencies. • Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove prohibited items. • Communicate with equipment operators about special waste loads requiring attention. • Access health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Participate in the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP). • Take advantage of employee discount programs.
