About the Role
• Operate commercial refuse/recycling vehicle following WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Load and unload residential or commercial containers, using hoisting devices and assisting with backing maneuvers. • Follow assigned routes, dump receptacles, keep customer sites clean, and complete end‑of‑day documentation. • Attend all scheduled training programs, briefings and meetings to progress through driver‑apprentice levels.

What You Bring
The Driver Apprentice works alongside an experienced WM driver or trainer after obtaining a Commercial Driving Permit. In this role the apprentice completes required training to safely operate a commercial refuse or recycling vehicle and provides service to customers. The apprentice remains in training until all requirements are satisfied. The position involves outdoor and vehicle‑driving work, requiring motor coordination, finger dexterity, and occasional physical effort handling objects. Employees are exposed to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes, and may encounter rare occupational risks such as cuts or exposure to chemicals.
