About the Role
Guards industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry. • Patrol buildings and grounds of the work site periodically. • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure. • Follow all hazardous waste handling guidelines. • Warn violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or forbidden articles, and apprehend or expel miscreants. • Inspect equipment and machinery for tampering. • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unlocked security doors. • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property. • Sound alarm or call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or unauthorized persons. • Permit authorized persons to enter the property. • Register at watch stations to record inspection trips. • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunctions for supervisory use. • Complete records and maintain logs. • Perform janitorial duties and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms. • Be contacted for after‑hour equipment pickup and delivery. • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the plant entrance to maintain order. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, performing other duties as required. • Apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned work. • Respond to standard requests from internal and external customers. • Solve routine problems by following defined procedures.

What You Bring
May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment and typically report to a supervisor or manager. Physical requirements include strength for standing (30%), walking (40%) and sitting (30%); lifting and carrying up to 50 lb; pushing and pulling up to 70 ft‑lb. The role also involves climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering with varying frequencies.
