About the Role

The engineer is accountable for delivering best‑practice systems and resolving problems across all data‑center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, such as UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, and cooling equipment. Daily duties include monitoring, preventive maintenance, and continuous operation of fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, plumbing, controls, and emergency backup power systems to maintain 100% uptime. • Maintain and monitor all building systems to ensure 100% uptime, including fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, plumbing, UPS, generators, and power distribution. • Perform preventive maintenance, record equipment readings, and make adjustments as needed. • Diagnose system malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. • Manage work orders, vendor coordination, and customer‑facing tickets using CMMS. • Follow hazardous‑material storage, usage, and disposal policies while keeping the workplace clean and safe. • Respond to emergency escalations and site emergencies, including on‑call and holiday availability.

What You Bring

Successful candidates must establish residency in or near Abilene, TX to fulfill the in‑person requirements of this position. The role is titled Data Center Building Engineer (also referred to as Data Center Operations Engineer). Physical work includes frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting at least 50 lb, and working at heights using ladders up to 30 ft. The role may require working different schedules, holidays, and responding to site emergencies. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in a data‑center or critical‑facility environment, with knowledge of UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgear. Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS (preferably Corrigo), and EPA 608 certification are desired. • Require minimum 2 years experience in data‑center or critical‑facility operations. • Proficient with UPS systems, emergency generators, switchgear, and building automation systems. • Skilled in MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS (preferably Corrigo); EPA 608 certification preferred. • Ability to lift at least 50 lb, climb ladders up to 30 ft, navigate rooftops, and work at heights.
