About the Role

The welding position involves handling, positioning, and tacking metal components—including structural shapes, plate, and light‑gauge structural elements—for modular buildings and equipment enclosures. Work may be performed on the shop floor, outdoors, or in work pods. • Insert the correct electrode into the welding holder or feed consumable wire into the gun. • Connect welding unit cables to set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse per the machine manual. • Power on the unit to generate electric current. • Strike an arc to melt and deposit metal, joining workpiece edges. • Guide the electrode or gun along the weld line, controlling arc length and travel speed to achieve proper fusion. • Perform flat‑position welding while learning horizontal, vertical, and overhead techniques on thin‑gauge metal. • Inspect welds for bead size and specification compliance. • Clean or degrease the weld joint before welding. • Chip away excess weld, slag, and spatter. • Position and clamp workpieces in jigs or fixtures. • Tack assemblies together as needed. • Operate handheld plasma cutters, cutting torches, grinders and, when certified, forklifts safely. • Handle light‑duty jib cranes for material movement. • Foster a positive workplace that encourages pride, customer focus, and individual ideas.
