About the Role
The position requires daily interaction and collaboration with staff on various projects, attending project meetings with senior personnel, and interfacing with contractors and site personnel. The associate will keep the supervisor informed of changing site conditions, schedule, train, and oversee environmental technicians, and perform assessments such as asbestos, lead‑based paint, mold, and indoor air quality, including air and bulk media sampling. Additional duties include monitoring remediation, documenting observations, submitting daily reports, and communicating site condition changes for timely investigation adjustments. • Collaborate with staff and attend project meetings as needed. • Coordinate daily with contractors and site personnel. • Report changing site conditions to supervisor and adjust investigations accordingly. • Schedule, train, and supervise environmental technicians. • Conduct asbestos, lead‑based paint, mold, and indoor air quality assessments, including air and bulk sampling. • Monitor remediation and abatement of hazardous materials. • Document field observations and submit daily reports. • Ensure compliance with sample collection, preservation, and laboratory submission regulations. • Apply basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations to study findings.

What You Bring
Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Assistant Staff Project Manager. The role focuses on field tasks assigned by senior staff, with growth in responsibility as experience is gained. Work will be primarily field‑based with limited office duties, and the ideal candidate demonstrates a positive customer‑service attitude and aligns with ECS Core Values. A solid understanding of sample collection, preparation, preservation, and laboratory submission regulations is essential, as is basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and their impact on study findings. The role supports senior staff in linking field observations to report conclusions and may be assigned other responsibilities as needed. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, natural or environmental science, geology, or a related field; no prior experience is required. A valid driver’s license is necessary, and the ability to lift at least 40 lb repeatedly and navigate uneven terrain is required. Basic knowledge of environmental principles, permitting processes, regulations, and test methods, as well as an interest in project management and business development, are also desired. • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or science field; possess a valid driver’s license and ability to lift 40 lb and traverse uneven terrain.
