Job Highlights
About the Role
• Ensure compliance with railway safety requirements, company policy, and CROR, including emergency identification. • Provide site‑specific instructions to workers before work under Safety Watch/Lone Worker, Rule 841/842, and Track Occupancy Permit. • Remain physically present with workers to verify protection compliance. • Consult with supervisors or contractor representatives to assess work scope and hazards, applying field controls as needed. • Communicate clearly with work groups, trains, railway personnel, and traffic controllers using established procedures and radio equipment. • Apply rules and regulations knowledge to support safe, on‑time movement of commuter trains through work zones. • Provide on‑site track protection in accordance with CROR. • Operate company vehicles responsibly and perform daily maintenance and inspections. • Perform additional duties assigned by the Track Protection Supervisor. • Complete administrative documentation per PNR Quality Management System, including daily flagging sheets. • Assist with railway maintenance and construction when required. • Direct work groups on live railway corridors in a safety‑sensitive role. • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. • Frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, lift, and bend on uneven terrain.

What You Bring
• Minimum of 2 years experience in railway track protection. • Certified in Canadian Railway Operating Rules. • Read and understand schedules, railway plans, and specifications. • Knowledge of occupational hazards, engineering safety regulations, and work precautions. • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French. • Proficient with computers, tablets, and related technology. • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license. • Exposure to loud noise, live tracks/trains, and high voltage. • Ability to work rotating shifts. • Ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Maintain concentration and mental alertness in varied situations. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
