About the Role

Key responsibilities include developing and managing system requirements, verifying data fusion, planning and executing laboratory and flight tests, and ensuring interoperability with other mission systems. The engineer will also lead multifunctional teams, conduct technology trade studies, perform complex engineering investigations, curate technical data for manuals and training artifacts, and oversee system enhancements to improve airspace integration, capability, and survivability. • Develop and manage system requirements, acquisition, deployment, and sustainment for unmanned aviation systems. • Create airworthiness and certification artifacts, verify hardware interfaces, and manage test data for technical reviews. • Lead airspace integration of new systems and ensure interoperability with mission systems. • Direct multifunctional teams, plan and execute lab and flight test campaigns, and conduct technology trade studies. • Perform complex engineering investigations, review literature and patents, and recommend system enhancements. • Curate technical data for manuals, training, and readiness artifacts.

KBR is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Systems Engineer for the MQ‑9 MUX MALE platform, an AI‑enabled unmanned air system that provides persistent ISR and advanced targeting for the U.S. Marine Corps. The role supports NAVAIR’s Program Executive Office, Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons in Patuxent River, MD, and provides technical leadership for integration, testing, and sustainment of the platform. Basic qualifications require U.S. citizenship, an active Top Secret/SCI clearance, a master’s degree in engineering, and a minimum of twelve years of progressively complex systems design, acquisition, and test experience with complex aviation/aerospace hardware‑software integration. Preferred qualifications include graduation from the Military Test Pilot School with operational pilot experience, certification in Systems Engineering, familiarity with the NAVAIR Systems Engineering Technical Review process, and experience working within NAVAIR and joint service program offices. Additional desired expertise includes DoD aviation development, formal engineering reporting, airspace management, and deconfliction in operational and test environments. • Hold U.S. citizenship, active Top Secret/SCI clearance, and a master’s degree in engineering. • Bring at least 12 years of systems design, acquisition, and test experience with complex aviation/aerospace integration. • Preferred: Military Test Pilot School graduate, Systems Engineering certification, NAVAIR SETR process experience, and joint program office familiarity. • Prefer expertise in airspace management, integration, and deconfliction in operational and test environments.
