About the Role

Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear-end load lift attachments, transporting waste, recyclable material, or large containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. Commercial Drivers handle containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds and must perform precise backing maneuvers in high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways and lots. Residential Drivers collect household waste and must safely navigate residential environments, while Roll‑off Drivers load and haul large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in tight overhead industrial routes. All drivers must operate their vehicles in compliance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT regulations, and applicable local, state and federal laws. They are required to conduct thorough pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections, report unsafe conditions, attend scheduled trainings, and follow route assignments while maintaining accurate end‑of‑day documentation. • Operate vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the DVIR. • Immediately report unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices. • Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. • Report service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Fully dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process. • Perform duties as scheduled and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

What You Bring

The position may require air travel or access to federal property, so candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative, or be willing to obtain one. • Minimum 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years. • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country. • Hold a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License with an air‑brake endorsement. • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED. • Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
