About the Role

The role involves working in a team of radiation protection professionals delivering specialist services and technical advice in dosimetry, instrumentation, calibration and radiation protection training. As a subject‑matter expert in ionising radiation dosimetry and instrument selection, you will provide day‑to‑day technical support to multiple business units and programmes across Rolls‑Royce Submarines. You will support delivery of dosimetry services, including internal and external dose assessment, and radiological instrumentation and calibration services, as well as our new in‑house training pathway for trainee Health Physicists. • Provide dosimetry services and assess internal and external radiation doses. • Deliver radiological instrumentation and calibration support. • Act as subject matter expert in ionising radiation dosimetry and instrument selection. • Offer technical support to multiple business units across Rolls‑Royce Submarines. • Support the new in‑house training pathway for trainee Health Physicists.

What You Bring

Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in physics, engineering, natural sciences, mathematics or a related discipline, and have a minimum of four years’ radiation protection experience on nuclear or radiological sites. Strong technical knowledge of dosimetry, instrument selection, calibration and training, together with experience delivering operational health‑physics services, is essential. Desirable experience includes specialist dosimetry knowledge, qualified‑person instrumentation expertise, and the ability to design and deliver radiation safety training. Applicants must hold a Security Check clearance; Rolls‑Royce will support the application if not already in place. Due to the nature of the work, only UK nationals or dual nationals approved by the Ministry of Defence may be considered. • Hold a degree in physics, engineering, natural sciences, mathematics or equivalent. • Minimum of four years radiation protection experience on nuclear/radiological sites. • Strong knowledge of dosimetry, instrument selection, calibration and training. • Experience delivering operational health‑physics, dosimetry, and calibration services. • Desirable: specialist dosimetry expertise, qualified‑person instrumentation knowledge, and ability to design and deliver radiation safety training. • Security Check clearance required; only UK nationals or MoD‑approved dual nationals eligible.
