About the Role

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons • Implement the pre-construction quality plan • Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses • Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, Non-Conformance Report • Manage, create, and distribute contract documents • Establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence) • Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase • Manage testing and inspection processes for construction quality management • Implement three-phase inspection system • Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and off-site testing procedures • Notify Project Manager and Superintendent of non-conforming test results or inspection items • Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing • Expedite submittals to align with project schedule • Communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers • Issue submittal requirement letters • Provide periodic updates of submittal register to customer or architect • Coordinate subcontractor details: verify insurance, prepare paperwork, request final payment • Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders • Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents • Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation into contract document updates • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers • Determine alternative work methods as needed • Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members • Maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion

The Project Engineer will review, analyze, manage, and resolve field coordination issues with project team members and participants. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for an employment visa. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management • Minimum of two years related construction experience • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem‑solving skills • Positive and professional attitude with customer service skills • Current driver’s license

Benefits

The base salary for this position ranges from $84,100 to $113,500, with higher ranges for certain locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Pay placement considers the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
