About the Role

The role is for an Estimator in the Infrastructure Commercial Team in Glasgow, responsible for producing detailed resource‑based estimates to evaluate design changes, maintain baseline cost, and challenge contractors’ estimates. Key responsibilities include producing accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely manner, managing the estimating process at the project level without supervision, and working both independently and as part of a team. The role also involves supporting and promoting estimating best practice within Turner & Townsend and with clients, assisting in departmental objectives, and staying current with technical developments to provide best‑practice advice. • Produce accurate, comprehensive project estimates on schedule. • Manage the estimating process at project level independently. • Promote estimating best practice within Turner & Townsend and with clients. • Contribute to departmental objectives and stay updated on technical developments. • Deliver estimating/QS services on large‑scale projects.

What You Bring

Candidates should be qualified to a high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with broad construction experience and knowledge of various estimating methodologies such as parametric, unit rate and benchmarking. Relevant experience delivering estimating or QS services on large projects, understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes, and preferably membership of a professional body (RICS, CIOB) or chartered status is desired. Familiarity with estimating software such as CANDY, Causeway, CostX or COSTOS is advantageous. • Work autonomously or collaboratively with limited supervision. • Hold qualifications in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with proven experience. • Possess broad construction experience and knowledge of parametric, unit‑rate, and benchmarking methods. • Understand project management, planning, risk, and investment processes. • Preferably hold membership of RICS, CIOB, or similar professional bodies. • Familiarity with estimating software such as CANDY, Causeway, CostX, or COSTOS is desirable.
