About the Role
Key responsibilities include interpreting project plans for subcontractors, implementing pre‑construction quality plans, and obtaining construction permits. The engineer will develop and maintain material tracking, testing, inspection, and non‑conformance logs, as well as manage contract documents and electronic RFIs. They will also oversee testing and inspection processes, establish reporting protocols, and handle submittals, RFIs, and change orders while ensuring timely project closeout. • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors. • Implement pre‑construction quality plan. • Obtain and maintain construction permits and manage related fees. • Develop and maintain material tracking, test/inspection, concrete placement, and non‑conformance logs. • Manage creation, distribution, and filing of contract documents and electronic RFIs/correspondence. • Establish procedures for project closeout and incorporate as‑built documentation. • Oversee testing and inspection processes, including three‑phase inspection system and off‑site testing. • Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and notify manager of non‑conforming results. • Manage submittals: set up register, obtain approvals, prepare transmittals, coordinate packaging, and expedite to meet schedule. • Communicate submittal process to subcontractors, issue requirement letters, and provide periodic updates. • Coordinate subcontractor insurance, paperwork, and final payment. • Develop and distribute RFIs and change orders. • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods. • Coordinate safety and compliance; maintain project schedule.

The role requires flexibility, resourcefulness, and a high level of professionalism while maintaining confidentiality. The engineer will review, analyze, manage, and resolve field coordination issues with project team members. This position is located in various sites and does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management and have at least two years of related construction experience. The role demands strong attention to detail, a basic understanding of construction law, and excellent teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills. A positive, professional attitude, customer‑service focus, and a valid driver’s license are also required. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management. • Minimum two years of related construction experience. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Excellent teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem‑solving skills. • Positive, professional attitude and customer‑service focus. • Valid driver’s license. • Visa sponsorship is not offered; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

The base salary ranges from $84,100 to $113,500, with higher ranges for certain locations, and the position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
