About the Role

This maintenance position at an industrial power plant does not offer per diem. The role of an Industrial Mechanic involves installing, assembling, dismantling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery, including small engines, motors, pumps, and other mechanical equipment. The mechanic works with industry‑specific, high‑complexity equipment, planning, inspecting, verifying, and documenting the scope of work. Tasks include replacing gaskets and defective parts, dismantling machines with hand tools, assembling and installing shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, and fastening machinery to foundations using bolts, welds, rivets, and both hand and power tools. Additional duties involve operating engine lathes, grinders, and files; fabricating and installing parts by measuring, cutting, drilling, and welding; turning components to dimensional specifications; and moving equipment with cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks using rigging devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs. Preventative maintenance such as lubrication and repair of worn parts is also required, alongside following supervisor directions. • Install, assemble, dismantle, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery. • Replace gaskets and other defective parts on equipment. • Dismantle machines using hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, and crowbars. • Assemble and install shafting, conveyors, tram rails, and related equipment. • Bolt, weld, rivet, and fasten machinery to foundations using hand and power tools. • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files for part fabrication. • Measure, cut, drill, and weld components to dimensional specifications. • Turn machine parts to precise dimensions. • Unload, inspect, move, and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks. • Use rigging devices (chokers, chain falls, come‑alongs) to move materials into place. • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication and repair of worn parts. • Follow supervisor directions and complete assigned duties.

What You Bring

The position requires demonstrated experience in industrial construction and maintenance, knowledge of hand and power tools, industrial machinery, and load properties of cables and hoists. Candidates must possess strong problem‑solving, organization, time‑management, and manual dexterity, be able to read technical documents, understand chemical‑facility hazards, and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors. A DISA background check, drug test, and valid driver’s license are mandatory. Preferred qualifications include prior Zachry employment, NCCER Mechanical certification, basic computer proficiency, and at least five years of experience in an industrial chemical facility. Physical demands involve extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, working at heights, and wearing required personal protective equipment in all weather conditions. • Demonstrated experience in industrial construction and maintenance. • Knowledge of hand and power tools and industrial machinery. • Understand load properties of cables, ropes, hoists, and chains. • Strong problem‑solving, organization, and time‑management abilities. • Manual dexterity and ability to read technical documents. • Experience working in chemical facilities and awareness of related hazards. • Ability to lead teams and provide detailed instructions. • Effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors. • Pass DISA background check, drug test, and hold a valid driver’s license. • Preferred: NCCER Mechanical certification and at least 5 years chemical plant experience. • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lb, and work at heights. • Wear required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirator, hi‑vis vest, gloves, and steel‑toed boots.
