About the Role

• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out construction areas. • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones. • Remove and replace track components such as ties, rails, and bars. • Slide and align tie plates. • Observe condition of tracks, track beds, and right of way to detect and report problems or defects. • Dig holes and trenches. • Utilize basic hand tools (e.g., sledgehammer, pick, track wrench, spike maul) and follow basic tool maintenance. • Comply with all company and railroad safety rules, practices, and regulations. • Work outdoors at construction sites. • Perform physical activities requiring extensive use of arms, legs, and whole body (standing, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, handling materials, equipment, tools). • Use hands and fingers to grasp, manipulate, and assemble objects and tools. • Lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 pounds. • Wear appropriate safety equipment such as safety glasses, boots, hard hats, and hearing protection as required.

What You Bring

Position Summary: Performs a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, utilizing hand and power tools and other equipment. This position is considered at a beginner level. • Minimum of 0–12 months of relevant construction experience. • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations. • Hold a driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and be available to travel. • Be exposed to harsh weather conditions, loud noise, live track/trains, and high voltage.
