About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent who will coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline. The role also focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. The Superintendent will ensure that materials, equipment, and inspections align with the project schedule, review construction and contract documents for completeness, and work with design engineers to resolve plan discrepancies. They will develop detailed project schedules, including three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead plans, and create site logistics strategies while overseeing the use of Mortenson tools and equipment. Collaboration with partner superintendents, conducting on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and regular site meetings are key responsibilities. The Superintendent will supervise craft foremen and crews, manage hiring and dismissals, coach and mentor team members, and ensure accurate task coding and productivity tracking. • Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection schedules to support project timelines. • Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability. • Coordinate plans with design engineers and resolve discrepancies. • Develop and maintain three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead project schedules. • Create site logistics plans and manage Mortenson tools and equipment usage. • Collaborate with partner superintendents and lead on‑site orientations and meetings. • Supervise and manage craft foremen, crews, and assistant superintendents, including hiring and dismissals. • Coach, mentor, and conduct career development discussions for team members. • Ensure accurate task coding on timecards and track productivity. • Oversee safety, quality, risk, and compliance, and identify process improvements.

What You Bring

Qualifications include an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field or ten years of trade experience, at least ten years of construction management experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel up to 100 %. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, possess basic knowledge of construction law, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and demonstrate strong customer service, communication, and inclusive workplace skills. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience. • Minimum 10 years of construction management or related experience. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100 % of the time. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple complex projects. • Basic knowledge of construction law and business practices. • Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Excellent communication, active listening, and customer service skills.
