About the Role

The role includes participation in a standby and call‑out roster and providing incident and emergency response support when needed. Success requires close collaboration with supervisors, team members, subcontractors and council stakeholders, as well as accurate field reporting, clear communication and a strong Zero Harm mindset. • Perform routine maintenance and reinstatement works on Invercargill water networks. • Respond to faults, customer service requests, and emergencies, including standby and call‑out duties. • Produce accurate field reports and documentation using mobile devices. • Communicate clearly with supervisors, team members, subcontractors and council stakeholders. • Follow Downer standard operating procedures and contract requirements with a Zero Harm safety mindset. • Apply strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills in urban and rural water reticulation. • Interact confidently with the public and handle service requests.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate brings experience in urban and rural water reticulation maintenance, strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities, confidence in dealing with the public, and proficiency in completing field documentation via mobile devices. A safety‑first approach, a full Class 1 licence, and a proactive, reliable attitude in a safety‑critical team environment are also essential. • Hold a full Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2, RTW, traffic management and confined‑space training advantageous). • Demonstrate proactive, reliable teamwork in a safety‑critical environment.
