About the Role
The Senior Safety Specialist coordinates and implements the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects, conducts inspections, documents hazardous condition abatement, writes reports, and performs trend analysis in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. • Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects. • Conduct regular walk‑through inspections to ensure compliance with laws and company policies. • Perform safety audits, identify hazardous conditions, and recommend abatement solutions. • Document findings and track abatement using internal safety management systems. • Conduct project‑specific new hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance. • Monitor implementation of prime contractor and subcontractor safety programs. • Attend pre‑planning, progress, and other project meetings to discuss safety matters. • Support field leadership in safety program implementation and chair project safety committees. • Assist in investigation of project‑related accidents; determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. • Coordinate with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely treatment and return‑to‑work; compile injury progress reports. • Monitor site safety incentive program. • Identify complex safety hazards involving safety, health, and hazardous materials; provide advanced abatement solutions. • Apply advanced knowledge of equipment, laws, and work processes to give project‑specific safety recommendations. • Communicate effectively and actively participate in meetings. • Use safety management systems to perform trend analysis and propose solutions to mitigate future occurrences. • Provide guidance and training on basic and intermediate safety topics to safety and project personnel. • Assist safety leadership during insurance audits. • Oversee complex projects, including one large or multiple projects, and manage controlled insurance program projects. • Develop and implement training strategies and processes to support training objectives. • Partner with leadership to create needs assessments, gap analyses, and strategic training plans. • Analyze training needs to develop or improve training programs using digital, classroom, skill qualification, and on‑the‑job methods. • Identify and implement technologies to enhance learning experiences. • Monitor company safety metrics and recommend training improvements and interventions. • Deliver in‑person and virtual training sessions and maintain training record retention. • Enforce all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations. • Recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures. • Build relationships with team members across projects. • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

What You Bring
A bachelor’s degree in a safety‑related field is preferred, though equivalent experience is accepted. The position requires at least five years of construction safety experience, a valid unrestricted driver’s license, and compliance with JE Dunn’s professional non‑union benefits package. • Perform work accurately, completely, and timely. • Communicate verbally and in writing at an advanced level. • Proficient in MS Office (intermediate). • Advanced proficiency in company safety software, processes, and tools. • Knowledge of environmental hazard testing protocols. • Intermediate proficiency in required construction technology.
